Anxiety Therapy

Accepting New Clients in Person in Alpharetta, Georgia, and Online across Georgia

Helping teens and women address anxiety, panic, OCD, and phobias so that you can feel peace and confidently face situations.

Do you feel like you’re always wondering if something terrible is going to happen? Are you struggling with frequent thoughts of panic, danger, or doom? Do you feel exhausted and overwhelmed? Maybe you even feel paralyzed by a phobia?

Anxiety therapy can help you gently face your fears so you can walk into a new situation more confidently and peacefully.

What is Anxiety Therapy?

Anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, testing anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, and OCD can all be debilitating when left untreated. I’m here to provide you with hope that anxiety disorders are very treatable! You don’t have to suffer alone anymore.

When we start working together, my goal is to understand when your anxiety began, how it affects you, and the common triggers that worsen your anxiety. Together, we will explore these patterns and the fears associated with them. Next, I will use strategies from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is the gold standard in treating anxiety disorders. The rationale behind this treatment is that the more we avoid things that make us anxious, the more anxious we become. I will help gradually and gently expose you to your fears safely so you can build confidence and trust in yourself.

Is Anxiety Therapy Right For You?

Does any of this sound familiar? If you are dealing with any of these issues, anxiety therapy can help.

  • You worry obsessively and imagine every “what if” scenario
  • You are experiencing frequent thoughts of panic, danger, or doom
  • You have a particular phobia (i.e., needles, heights, being alone, being in crowded spaces, germs, vomiting, etc.) that is holding you back
  • You work very hard to avoid the things that trigger your anxiety
  • You feel socially isolated and extremely nervous (sometimes paralyzed) in social situations
  • You constantly feel exhausted or overwhelmed
You have been experiencing panic attacks (shortness of breath, sweating, shaking, dizziness, or increased heart rate)
  • You feel like you’re always waiting for something horrible to happen
  • You have trouble falling asleep or find yourself awake throughout the night
    You can’t concentrate

What are the Benefits of Anxiety Therapy?

My clients have experienced many benefits from therapy. Anxiety therapy can help you:

  • Feel brave and confident to confront and overcome your “safety behaviors” (behaviors used to avoid anxiety)
  • Develop an understanding of healthy versus unhealthy anxiety and stress
  • Free yourself from the cycle of obsessions and compulsions
  • Learn to accept your anxiety, thereby reducing it
  • Challenge your inner narrative and get the tools to deal with discomfort and uncertainty
  • Reduce frequency and significance of shameful, disturbing thoughts
  • Reduce panic attack symptoms, or stop having panic attacks altogether
  • Learn how developing a self-care routine and addressing lifestyle factors can reduce anxiety
  • Improve concentration and focus
  • Feel more connected to the people you care about

Work with a Hypnotherapist

Emily R. Siegel, MSW, LCSW, CCH

I am a Licensed Psychotherapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with special expertise in anxiety therapy. I have been working with women and adolescents since 2010 and am passionate about helping you uncover your strengths and surprise yourself through overcoming your fears.

I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a technique to help you prevent safety behaviors or compulsive responses to your anxiety triggers. Instead of neutralizing your anxiety with these behaviors, I help you realize that you have the courage and strength within you to face your anxiety. ERP is fundamentally about shifting your perspective of unpleasant thoughts and feelings, but not pushing them away. By working individually with you, I help you tolerate discomfort and confidently trust that you can handle your fears. I also have special training in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy which complement ERP.
